उत्तर

\[\ce{Calcium carbonate ->[heat] \underset{Oxide + Carbon dioxide}{Calcium}}\]

(a) It is a chemical change in which new substances are formed.
(b) Calcium oxide when dissolved in water, forms a basic solution.

\[\ce{CaO + H2O -> (OH)2}\]
Carbon dioxide when dissolved in water, forms an acidic solution

\[\ce{CO2 + H2O -> H2CO3}\]

Give an example of the following chemical changes.

A reaction involving

     (i) Change of state

     (ii) formation of precipitate

A chemical reaction is often accompanied by external indications or characteristics which include –

  1. Colour change
  2. Effervescence or gas evolved
  3. Evolution or absorption of heat
  4. Formation of a precipitate.
