The line judges perform their functions by using flags to signal:

1. To perform out their functions by signalling with flags. 
2. To determine whether the ball is in or out when it lands near their line(s).
3. To monitor the touches of out balls by the receiving team.
4. Check if the ball touches the antenna, served ball and third hit of the team crosses the net outside the crossing space.
5. Check for players walking outside their court during a service hit, excluding the server.
6. Check the server’s foot defects. 
7. Check for any contact between players and the top 80 cm of the antenna on their side of the court during ball play or interference.
8. Check if the ball is crossing the net or touching the antenna on the opponent’s side of the court. 
9. Repeat the signal upon the first referee's request.
