Our group believes that capital punishment should be abolished. Although heinous crimes deserve serious punishment, the death penalty is irreversible, and a wrongful conviction cannot be corrected once it has been carried out. Life imprisonment can protect society while allowing the justice system to review a case if new evidence emerges. We therefore support replacing capital punishment with strict, fair sentences and strengthening the investigation and trial process.
