Some NGOs working in Mumbai and Maharashtra are:

  • Pratham Education Foundation: Works mainly in education, early childhood learning, youth skilling and support for children with special needs. It began in Mumbai and works with children, families and communities to improve learning opportunities.
  • The Akanksha Foundation: Works for children from underserved communities through schools in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur. Its programmes focus on quality education, student development, teacher support, vocational training and overall well-being.
  • CRY – Child Rights and You: Works for children’s education, health and nutrition, protection from child labour, child marriage, trafficking and abuse, and promotes child participation. It also supports projects in Mumbai.
  • Pratham Council for Vulnerable Children (PCVC): Works for vulnerable children such as child labourers, ragpickers and street children. It helps protect their rights and supports their rehabilitation into family, school and society.

NGO in which I would like to work:

I would like to work with Pratham Education Foundation because education can improve a child’s future and create long-term social change. I would like to help children who do not have easy access to quality education.
