POEMS ON LEAVES

How silently they tumble down And come to rest upon the ground To lay a carpet, rich and rare, Beneath the trees without a care, Content to sleep, their work well done, Colours gleaming in the sun. Green Shelves of Life Silent factories dressed in deep green, Working all day, a magic unseen. They capture the sun and breathe in the air, To give us pure oxygen, precious and rare. Without their soft rustle, the earth would be bare, No food for the creatures, no life anywhere. They shade us from heat and they hold up the sky, The most valuable asset that money can't buy.
