उत्तर
Fossils are the remains or evidence of extinct plant and animal life that have been buried in rock as molds, casts, or tracks, or as petrified hard pieces. Written records of evolution can be found in fossils.
The importance of fossils:
- To research evolutionary history, often known as race history, or phylogeny. E.g., Horse evolution.
- To investigate the relationship that unites two groups of organisms. E.g., Archaeopteryx.
- To research extinct species, such as dinosaurs
- To examine fossils found in various sedimentary rock layers in order to learn about geological periods. According to the study, living forms changed over time, and some are unique to particular geological periods.
