उत्तर

The distance from the pole to the focal point is called the focal length (f). The focal length of a spherical mirror is then approximately half its radius of curvature.

Focal length = Radius of curvature / 2
Or 2 F = R

What type of image is formed:

 in a plane mirror?

State the two kinds of spherical mirror and distinguish them with the aid of proper diagrams.

AB and CD, two spherical mirrors, from parts of a hollow spherical ball with its centre at O as shown in the diagram. If arc AB = `1/2` arc CD, what is the ratio of their focal lengths? State which of the two mirrors will always form virtual image of an object placed in front of it and why.

State the two convenient rays that are chosen to construct the image by a spherical mirror for a given object? Explain your answer with the help of suitable ray diagrams.

Figure shows a concave mirror with its pole at P, focus and centre of curvature C. Draw ray diagram to show the formation of image of an object OA.

Discuss the position and nature of image formed by a convex mirror when an object is moved from infinity towards the pole of mirror.

The focal length of a concave mirror is 10 cm. Find its radius of curvature.

Define the term principal focus in case of convex mirror. Draw a convex mirror and show its principal focus and focal length clearly.

A person in front of a spherical mirror finds his image having a very small head, a fat body and legs of normal size. What are the shapes of three parts of the mirror?

The diagram below shows the parallel rays incident on a convex mirror. C is the centre of the curvature of the mirror. By drawing the paths of the reflected rays, label the focus F and hence find the focal length of the mirror.
