उत्तर

Hence relative refractive index between the prism and red light is less than the relative refractive index between the prism and violet light.

The angle of minimum deviation is directly proportional to the relative refractive index by the relation:-

δ = (μ−1)A    (where A is the angle of the prism)

Therefore the angle of minimum deviation for red light is less than the violet.

A thin prism is made of a material having refractive indices 1.61 and 1.65 for red and violet light. The dispersive power of the material is 0.07.
