(a) Reaction with basic oxide :-

(b) Reaction with carbonates and hydrogen carbonates :-
\[\ce{Na2CO3 + 2HNO3 -> 2NaNO3 + H2O(I) + CO2}\]

(c) Reaction with metallic sulphites :-
