उत्तर

  • Bio-degradable Materials: These are organic materials that can be easily broken down, decomposed, and dissolved into natural elements (like soil, water, and gas) by microorganisms like bacteria and fungi over a short period of time without causing pollution (e.g., paper, vegetable scraps, wood, and cotton fabric).
  • Non-biodegradable Materials: These are synthetic materials that cannot be broken down or decomposed by natural agents or microorganisms. They remain intact on the Earth’s surface for hundreds or thousands of years, leading to severe land and water pollution (e.g., plastic bags, glass, nylon, and aluminium cans).

It is significantly better to use bio-degradable materials in our daily lives for the following geographical and environmental reasons:

  1. Prevents Environmental Pollution: Bio-degradable products naturally break down and return to the earth, preventing the accumulation of waste in landfills and oceans.
  2. Maintains Soil Health: When organic materials decompose, they turn into natural humus and manure, which enrich the soil with vital nutrients and improve its fertility.
  3. Protects Wildlife and Marine Life: Non-biodegradable waste, such as plastics, often chokes stray animals or marine creatures; using bio-degradable alternatives completely eliminates this hazard.
  4. Saves Energy and Resources: Manufacturing bio-degradable goods typically requires less energy, emits fewer greenhouse gases, and supports a sustainable circular economy.
