प्रश्न

Find the lower quartile, the upper quartile, the interquartile range and the semi-interquartile range for the following frequency distributions:

Frequency 8 1 7 14 11 5 4

उत्तर

Shoe size  Frequency (f) Cumulative frequency
5 8 8
6 1 9
7 7 16
8 14 30
9 11 41
10 5 46
11 4 50

No. of terms = 50

Lower Quartile (Q1) = `n/4 = 50/4` = 12.5th term = 7

Upper Quartile (Q3) = `(n xx 3)/4 = (50 xx 3)/4` = 37.5th term = 9

Interquartile range = Q3 - Q1 = 9-7 = 2

Semi-interquartile range = `(Q_3 - Q_1)/2 = (9-7)/2 = 1`

Hence, Lower quartile = 7, upper quartile = 9, interquartile range = 2, semi-interquartile range = 1

Make a frequency distribution table using tally marks. Draw a bar graph to illustrate it.

Find the correct answer from the alternatives given.

No. of trees planted by each student

1 - 3 4 - 6 7 - 9 10 - 12
No. of students 7 8 6 4

Years No. of workshops
1995−1996 25
1996−1997 30
1997−1998 42
1998−1999 50
1999−2000 65

  2. Which class interval has the least number of students?
  3. What is the class size?
  4. How many students have height less than 140 cm?

  2. State the modal class.
  3. Identify and note down the mode of the distribution.
  4. Find the number of plants whose height range is between 80 cm to 90 cm.
