Split the middle term as 4xy and 12xy
6x2 + 16xy + 8y2 = 6x2 + 12xy + 4xy + 8y2
= 6x(x + 2y) + 4y(x + 2y)
= (x + 2y)(6x + 4y)
= 2(x + 2y)(3x + 2y)
