  1. The physical factors like climate, terrain and availability of water affects population distribution. For example the north India plains, deltas and coastal plains have a higher proportion of population than other regions of the country.
  2. Economic factors like industrialisation, urbanisation and development of transport networks cause high concentration of population in urban regions of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune etc.
