Reflex action is an action which is nearly instantaneous and not under the control of the will. The impulse passes from the sensory cells of the receptor organ along the dorsal root into the spinal cord. From here two messages pass simultaneously—one to the brain and the other travels out along the ventral root to reach the muscle which immediately responds
