  1. Time Consuming: The time required to write the message must be added to the time required to send written messages. It is inappropriate when the message needs to be conveyed right away because so much time is spent.
  2. Costly: Compared to spoken communication, written communication is more costly. In addition to shipping and other expenses, there are expenditures associated with paper and ink or typing. Written communication is useless if the message is badly written. The cost of keeping written records is high.
  3. Lack of Secrecy: It is difficult to keep written messages completely secret.
  4. Rigidity: Written communication is not flexible. It is not possible to make adjustments or clarifications on the spot. If the recipient has any questions or concerns, they must write back.
  5. Impersonal: Written communications typically lack a human touch and are formal. As a result, the recipient is less responsive.
  6. Delayed Feedback: Written communication does not allow for immediate feedback. The message’s sender cannot infer the recipient’s response from their facial expressions. Written words cannot be reinforced by gestures or facial expressions.
