उत्तर

The Portuguese and Maratha Empires had different conflicts, which are as follows:

  1. The Portuguese were initially contacted by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj when he took control of Kalyan and Bhiwandi.
  2. During the Maratha siege of Adilshah’s Fort of Fonda in 1966, the Portuguese supplied ammunition to the Adil Shah’s Killedar.
  3. The Portuguese rules, which encouraged religious conversions, made the locals dissatisfied. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj made the decision to assault the Bardesh region as a result.
  4. When the territory of Dandarajpuri, ruled by the Siddis, was under Maratha siege, the Portuguese provided the Siddis with military provisions and ammunition.
  5. In the battle between the Adilshahi Sultanate and the Marathas, the Portuguese secretly assisted the Adilshah while maintaining neutrality.
  6. The Portuguese and the Marathas had a disagreement on the matter of collecting Chauthai in the Ramnagar region, which lasted to the very end.
  7. The Portuguese-Maratha conflict resulted from the forced religious conversion of the Goa subjects and the stealing of commercial ships. During the siege of the Fonda fort, the Portuguese were driven out by the Marathas.
  8. Revdanda was attacked by Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. In response, the Portuguese attacked the Fonda fort. After breaking through the obstruction, the Maratha army launched an attack on Goa. But Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj left midway and hurried to battle the Mughals after learning of the Mughal attack on the South Konkan.
  9. Later, during the rule of Chhatrapati, the war between the Marathas and the Portuguese started up again. Chhatrapati Maharaj Shahu took Kalyan-Bhiwandi under his grip.
  10. The battle against the Portuguese was put in charge of Chimajiappa, Peshwa Bajirao I’s younger brother. Chimajiappa seized control of the forts at Thane, Sashti Island, and Vasai Island at the start of the battle.
