1.	Isolated settlements appear in the form of isolated huts or hamlets of a few huts on small hill or in remote jungle with farms or pasture on the slope.	Fragmented settlements may result from segregation of large compact village. These units are locally called para, panna, palli, etc.
2.	Extreme dispersion of settlement is often caused by fragmented nature of the region and land resource base of habitable areas.	The fragmentation of a large village is often caused by social and ethnic factors.
3.	These settlements are found in many areas of Meghalaya, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.	These settlements are found in some part of Ganga river basin region.
