| Inherited characters are those characters that a person gets from his/her ancestors. | Acquired characters are the characters that a person gets during his/her lifetime. |
| These characters develop due to changes in DNA of germ cells so, these are passed on from one generation to another. | These characters do not develop due to changes in DNA of germ cells hence, they are not inherited to the next generation. |
