Question

Describe the major rules that are observed in long jump.

Answer 1

Major long-jump rules:

• The athlete runs along the runway and takes off from behind the take-off board.
• Stepping beyond the board makes the attempt a foul.
• The athlete must land in the sandpit.
• The jump is measured from the take-off board to the nearest mark made in the pit.
• The leading eight competitors receive three additional attempts after their first three.
