Describe the conditions of growth of tea in India.

Tea needs temperatures between 25°C and 30°C and 200–250 cm of evenly spaced rainfall. It thrives on forest terrain that is rich in organic materials or well-drianed deep friable loam. The tea bush is planted on steep slopes because stagnant water damages its roots. When picking the tea leaf, a lot of inexpensive human work is needed. Women and children typically perform this labour.
