उत्तर
These days employees working in both the government and the private sector are allowed several types of leave. These leaves are given below:
- Casual Leave: Employees are generally allowed 8 to 12 days of casual leave per calendar year. Casual leave is not a formal leave under Government rules and does not affect salary or service. It cannot be taken along with other types of leave, though it can be combined with special casual leave or vacation leave. Casual leave cannot be used at the time of joining, and Sundays or holidays during casual leave are not counted as leave days.
- Child Care Leave: Women employees with minor children may be allowed child care leave for a total of 730 days (2 years) during their service for taking care of up to two children. This includes attending to their health, exams, or other needs. This leave is not permitted if the child is over 18 years of age or earning. It must be used in more than one instance, cannot be adjusted against the leave account, and can be clubbed with similar types of leave.
- Medical/sick Leave: Employees in Groups ‘C’ and ‘D’ whose work involves hazardous or physically demanding tasks are entitled to medical leave. A certificate from a recognised medical professional is required. This leave may be combined with other types of leave and must not exceed a total of 28 months.
- Vacation Department Staff leave Entitlement: Employees working in departments where regular vacation breaks are part of the work schedule (like schools) are entitled to leave benefits similar to non-vacation department employees, except in the case of earned leave.
- Child Adoption Leave: Women employees with fewer than two surviving children can take 135 days of leave following the legal adoption of a child below one year of age. This leave can be combined with other types of leave but is not adjusted in the leave account. It must begin immediately after adoption.
- Earned Leave: Earned leave is given in return for work done. Employees earn 15 days of leave every six months (January and July). It can be accumulated for up to 300 days and can be cashed. In addition, up to 180 days of earned leave can be taken together with LTC (Leave Travel Concession).
