- Subhas Chandra Bose did something brave by supporting armed rebellion in India’s fight for freedom.
- He changed the way the Indian National Army (INA), which was made up of Indian prisoners of war, worked and in 1943 became its Supreme Commander.
- He came to Singapore and set up the Provisional Government of Free India. His historic calls were “Jai Hind” and “Dilli Chalo.”
- In the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bose raised the national flag and led the INA’s march to Imphal and Kohima.
- The INA’s attempts led to a rise in nationalism, even though the campaign failed. Later, the INA trials caused more public unrest, which sped up India’s path to freedom.
