He was a very capable general who fought alongside his troops and a compassionate yet brutal administrator. He is also recognized for having constructed exquisite temples and Gopurams. He wrote poetry. He promoted trade and supported artists. He inspired the renowned mathematician Nilkantha. In his era, Vijaynagar was at its height.
