उत्तर

Given, Power P = 1.5 kW, voltage V= 250 V

(a) Current, I= `"P"/"V" = (1.5 xx 1000)/250 = 6 "A"`

(b) Energy consumed in 20 hrs= P x t = 1.5 x 20 = 30 kWh

( c) Cost of consumed energy @Re. 1 per unit= 1 x 30 =Rs. 30

Define the unit of current.

A 5 V battery is connected to two 20 Ω resistors which are joined together in series.

(a) Draw a circuit diagram to represent this. Add an arrow to indicate the direction of conventional current flow in the circuit.
(b) What is the effective resistance of the two resistors?
(c) Calculate the current that flows from the battery?
(d) What is the p.d. across each resistor?

The figure given below shows an electric circuit in which current flows from a 6 V battery through two resistors.

  1. Are the resistors connected in series with each other or in parallel?
  2. For each resistors, state the p.d. across it.
  3. The current flowing from the battery is shared between the two resistors. Which resistor will have bigger share of the current?
  4. Calculate the effective resistance of the two resistors.
  5. Calculate the current that flows from the battery.

Ten bulbs are connected in a series circuit to a power supply line. Ten identical bulbs are connected in a parallel circuit to an identical power supply line.

(b) In which circuit, if one bulbs be brighter?

What do you mean by conductance of a conductor of a solution?

The metal case of an electric appliance is earthed. Explain the reason.

What do you mean by short-circuiting?

The following appliances are to be used on 240 V supply. Calculate the current used by each and say which fuse, 2 amp, 5 amp or 13 amp should be incorporated with each, (i) A television rated at 150 W, (ii) An electric iron rated at 750 W, (iii) An immersion heater rated at 3000 W, (iv) A hair dryer rated at 500 W. How much will it cost to run the television set for 100 days for an average of 4 hours a day at 60 paise per unit?

An electric bulb is rated '100 W, 250 V'. How much current will the bulb draw if connected to a 250 V supply?

A bulb is connected to a battery of p.d. 4 V and internal resistance 2.5 Ω . A steady current of 0.5 A flows through the circuit. Calculate:

The total energy supplied by the battery in 10 minutes
