\[\text{ X follows binomial distribution with parameters n = 2 and }  p = \frac{1}{2}\]
\[ \therefore Var\left( X \right) = \text{ npq }  = 2 \times \frac{1}{2} \times \frac{1}{2} = \frac{1}{2}\]
