Decimal Fractions:
A fraction whose denominator is 10, 100, 1000, or any other ten-times multiple of 10 is called a decimal fraction.
For example, `"5"/"10"`, `"68"/"100"`, and `"285"/"100"`.

Rules
  • If the denominator is 10 → place the decimal after 1 digit from the right.

  • If the denominator is 100 → place it after 2 digits from the right.

  • If the denominator is 1000 → after 3 digits from the right. 

Definition: Place Value

Place value can be defined as the value represented by a digit in a number based on its position in the number.

7289 = 7000 + 200 + 80 + 9

7 is at the thousands place, 2 at the hundreds place, 8 at the tens place, and 9 at the ones place.
