The obstacles to national unity are as follows:

1. Communalism: One of the most significant barriers to national integration is communalism. In India, various communities, tribal groups, and political parties are attempting to reap the benefits of freedom while ignoring the interests of society as a whole. As a result, communal disturbances occur on a regular basis in various sections of the country.
2. Casteism: In ancient times, Indian society was split into many castes, subcastes, and sub-castes based on birth. High caste people develop a sense of superiority over the lower castes. This creates animosity among the population. It becomes difficult to foster a sense of unity among the people.
3. Regionalism: Regionalism impedes national unity. Our country is now divided into several states. This creates rivalry between different regions, states, and even inside the state. The people of Assam, Meghalaya, and Manipur have begun an agitation against outsiders who live in these states and undermine national cohesiveness.
4. Linguism: India is a country of various languages. This diversity of language is indicative of cultural enrichment. However, it is regrettable that a number of "linguistic conflicts" exist in our country. People have acquired an unwillingness to offer other languages the rights that they claim for their own. A disagreement or struggle over languages will undoubtedly dissolve us.
5. Economic Inequalities: Economic inequality has an impact on national integration. On one end are the millions who live in poverty, while on the other are those who live a life of financial security. The offer of job possibilities for those young men may aid national integration.
