The US Open Tennis Championships, sometimes known as the US Open, is an annual hardcourt tennis tournament organized by the United States Tennis Association in Queens, New York City. The fourth and final Grand Slam tennis event follows the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon. The US Open begins on the last Monday of August and lasts two weeks. The middle weekend overlaps with the US Labor Day vacation. All players must be at least 14 years old. The competition, formerly known as the U.S. National Championships, dates back to August 1881, when men’s singles and doubles were first played. It is one of the oldest tennis championships worldwide. This is the only Grand Slam that did not face cancellation due to World War. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 won’t interfere with the continuity of World Wars I and II.
