उत्तर
Multiple Ovulation Embryo Transfer Technology (MOET) is a programme for herd improvement. Different steps in this method are:
- A cow is administered a hormone (like FSH) to induce follicular maturation and super-ovulation, i.e., 6-8 eggs in one cycle.
- The cow is either mated with the selected superior bull or artificially inseminated.
- The fertilised eggs at 8-32 cell stages are recovered non-surgically and transferred to surrogate mothers.
- Now, the genetic mother is available for another round of super-ovulation.
- This technology has been used for cattle, sheep, rabbits, buffalo, mares, etc.
- High milk-yielding breeds of females and high-quality, lean-meat-yielding bulls with little fat have been bred successfully to obtain better breeds and increase the herd size in a short time.
