उत्तर
The scenario of competitions has changed greatly over the years. Earlier, sports were mainly divided into amateurism and professionalism. Professional players generally played for money, while amateurs participated mainly for fun and recreation.
The Olympic Games are a major example of this change. Earlier, only amateur athletes were allowed to participate. However, some athletes began receiving payments secretly, making it difficult to identify genuine amateurs. As a result, the IOC removed the word “amateur” from its rules, and professional athletes were gradually accepted.
Today, competitions have become more competitive, organised and commercialised. Television deals, sponsorships and improved training facilities provide professional athletes with better opportunities. Sponsorships, scholarships and other financial support also help athletes meet training and competition expenses.
Thus, the changing scenario has made professionalism an accepted and important part of modern sports competitions.
