उत्तर
The Election Commission of India consists of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and such number of other Election Commissioners as the President may decide.
- The Chief Election Commissioner is appointed by the President of India.
- The other Election Commissioners are also appointed by the President.
- They hold office for a term of six years or until the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
- The CEC can be removed only in the same manner and on the same grounds as a judge of the Supreme Court, while the other Commissioners can be removed by the President on the recommendation of the CEC.
This system ensures the independence and impartial functioning of the Election Commission.
