No matter how it was created, a stem cell line is practically immortal once it is produced from a bodily cell. Once established, a cell line can be continuously produced in the lab. Lab-grown stem cell lines give researchers the chance to modify them for use in disease treatment or transplantation. In order to get over this immunological rejection, researchers will eventually be able to alter human stem cell lines through gene therapy or other methods.
