प्रश्न
Why is the core of an electromagnet made of ferromagnetic materials?

उत्तर
The core of an electromagnet should have high permeability and low retentivity. The high permeability of the core of an electromagnet ensures that the electromagnet is strong. On the other hand, low retentivity of the core ensures that the magnetism of the core material gets lost as soon as the current is switched off. Ferromagnetic materials have both high permeability and low retentivity. Hence, ferromagnetic materials are the most suitable for making the core of an electromagnet.
