Martin Luther King Jr. was a prominent American civil rights leader who fought for racial equality through non-violent protest. Some of the most important events he led were the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the March on Washington, where he gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. King was very important in getting the Civil Rights Act (1964) and the Voting Rights Act (1965) passed.
