उत्तर

Mathilde was primarily responsible for her sadness. Her willful and aggressive behaviour was the core cause of the terrible event. She borrowed the jewellery and lost it, which caused her to cry. Her friend and husband were both in some way responsible for it. Of course, the conditions are also partly to blame.
