उत्तर

Laldenga, the leader of the Mizo National Front (MNF), demanded independence for Mizoram from India. He sought to establish an independent Mizo state, where the Mizo people could govern themselves and preserve their cultural and ethnic identity. The demand for independence was based on the belief that the Mizo community should have control over their own political, social, and economic affairs, without external interference.

This demand led to a prolonged insurgency in Mizoram during the 1960s and 1970s. Laldenga's movement initially called for the secession of Mizoram from India, but after years of conflict, his stance shifted towards autonomy and the recognition of Mizoram's distinct identity within the Indian Union. Eventually, following peace talks and negotiations with the Indian government, Laldenga and the MNF leaders agreed to a settlement, leading to Mizoram becoming a Union Territory in 1972 and later a full state in 1987.
