उत्तर १

Theoretically speaking, all the powers are vested in the President according to Article 53(1) of the Constitution. The President can exercise those powers directly or through officers under him. According to Article 74(1) of the Indian Constitution, the President has to exercise his functions on the basis of aid and advice of the Prime Minister and his Council of Ministers.

उत्तर २

Position of the President:

  • Ceremonial Head: The President acts on the advice of the Council of Ministers headed by the Prime Minister (Article 74).
  • Constitutional Guardian: Upholds the Constitution and ensures governance according to its provisions.
  • Neutral and Symbolic Figure: Represents the unity and integrity of the nation, above political affiliations.
  • Emergency Role: Gains real power during constitutional emergencies.

Thus, while the President of India is largely a ceremonial figure under normal circumstances, they possess significant powers, especially during emergencies, and play a vital role in maintaining constitutional order and functioning.
