This theory describes a singular huge explosion, unimaginably large in physical terms, which caused the universe to expand. As the universe expanded, its temperature dropped. This cooling allowed hydrogen and helium to form. These gases later condensed under gravitational forces to form galaxies, which contain stars and clouds of gas and dust.
