- An intentional foul occurs when a player commits a personal foul without attempting to directly play the opposing player or the ball.
- A player will be intentionally foul for opposing players in hopes of getting the ball back after a missed free throw.
- For example - Holding or pushing a player in full view of an official, in order to stop play or showing a player in the back as he she is attempting a lay-up that cannot be defended.
