Desertification is the process of land degradation in arid, semi-arid, and sub-humid areas, mainly caused by the washing away of the earth’s topsoil. It results from a combination of natural factors and human activities such as deforestation, over-cultivation, overgrazing, and poor water management, leading to loss of soil fertility and productive potential of the land.
