Galvanic or voltaic cells are devices that convert chemical energy into electrical energy. A redox reaction occurring within a galvanic cell is the cause of the electric current created. Daniell cells, Leclanche cells, the typical dry cells used in torches, and others are typical examples of galvanic cells.
