उत्तर

This period brought both difficulties and progress to the lives of people. Heavy taxes, sometimes taking up to half of the produce, and frequent plundering made many peasants poor and contributed to famines. At the same time, trade and handicrafts continued to grow, although much of the wealth went to the richer sections of society. The period also witnessed important cultural achievements, including the temples of Vijayanagara, Mughal monuments such as the Taj Mahal, and Sikh religious literature. However, practices like iconoclasm and the jizya tax caused hardship for many. Leaders such as Rani Durgavati, Maharana Pratap, and Guru Tegh Bahadur became symbols of courage and resistance. Villages maintained local systems of governance, while strong community ties helped people cope with changing and uncertain times.
