उत्तर

The concentrated ore is converted into its oxidised form by the following processes:

  1. Calcination: The ore is heated in the absence of air. Moisture, volatile impurities and organic matter are removed. Carbonates are converted into oxides.
  2. Roasting: The ore is heated strongly in the presence of excess air. Sulphide ores are converted into oxides and impurities are removed as gases.
