I visited www.indiavotes.com and looked at the results of both a Lok Sabha and a State Assembly constituency. For the 2024 General Elections, I explored the Bolangir Lok Sabha constituency in Odisha, where Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo of the BJP won by more than one lakh votes against Surendra Singh Bhoi of the BJD. For the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, I studied the Bhabanipur constituency, where Mamata Banerjee of the TMC defeated Priyanka Tibrewal of the BJP by a large margin. These examples show how citizens directly participate in national and state elections and play an important role in choosing their representatives.
