Diversity in Animals
I visited a zoo and observed many different kinds of animals such as lions, tigers, elephants, deer, monkeys, giraffes, bears, crocodiles and parrots. I noticed that animals are different in their size, shape, colour, body structure and food habits. Some animals, such as deer and giraffes, eat plants and are called herbivores, while lions and tigers eat the flesh of other animals and are carnivores. Some animals live mainly on land, while crocodiles live in and around water and monkeys spend much of their time on trees. Birds such as parrots have wings, feathers and beaks, while mammals such as elephants and tigers have hair and four legs. Each animal has special body features that help it survive in its habitat. The zoo visit helped me understand the great diversity of animals and the importance of protecting them.
