उत्तर
i. Conformity is the social phenomenon that manifests itself in Party B’s final stance. Conformity is a type of social influence in which a person changes their beliefs or behaviour in order to fit in with a group or align with the thoughts of others. Party B initially disagreed, but subsequently aligned with Party A’s views.
ii. Reasons for the Change in Stance
- Informational Social Influence: Party B may have altered their attitude after being persuaded by Party A’s logic, facts, or arguments. They accepted the 40% number because they concluded that Party A had better information or a more effective plan for the impoverished.
- Normative Social Influence: Party B may have conformed in order to prevent conflict, maintain group cohesion, or win social favour during the conversation. Even if they had private reservations, they publicly agreed with Party A to maintain a cohesive front or viewed as cooperative.
- Group Size and Unanimity: If Party A had presented a strong, united front, the pressure on Party B to conform would have increased dramatically. It is more difficult to stand alone when the other group is completely in agreement.
