Management is the process of balancing different and often conflicting needs of various groups connected with the business. A business has to satisfy the needs of customers by providing them with good quality products at reasonable prices while also meeting the needs of employees by ensuring job security, fair wages, and a healthy work environment. At the same time, it must ensure a reasonable return for shareholders and maintain good relations with suppliers. The business is also responsible towards society by following ethical practices and contributing to social welfare. Managing a business is, therefore, about balancing these various needs in such a way that the objectives of the business are achieved while ensuring satisfaction for all stakeholders.
