उत्तर

Given: Mean of 9 observations = 32.

One observation was misread: actual = 36, recorded = 63.

Total with the recorded/misread data = 9 × 32 = 288.

a. If the (misread) observation is excluded:

Sum of remaining 8 observations

= 288 – 63

= 225

New mean

= 225 ÷ 8

= 28.125

= `28 1/8`

b. If the correct observation (36) is included (i.e., replace 63 by 36):

Correct total

= 288 – 63 + 36

= 261

Correct mean

= 261 ÷ 9

= 29
