Revolution in Textile Industry: In 1767, a Lancashire weaver named, James Hargreaves invented the machine, called the Spinning-Jenny. It could spin eight threads at a time instead of one thread of the old fashioned spinning- wheel. Yarn spun on the Jenny was not very strong. Richard Arkwright Improved on this. He invented the machine operated by water-power, which made-even stronger threads. A weaver named, Crompton, invented the machine (Crompton’s Mule), which combined the advantages of the two previous machines. His ‘spinning mule’ succeeded in combining quality and quantity.
