उत्तर

The co-ordinates of a point which divides the line segment joining the points (3, 5) and (8, 10) in the ratio 2 : 3, are (5, 7).

Explanation:

By the section formula for internal division in the ratio 2 : 3,

⇒ x = (2 × 8 + 3 × 3) / (2 + 3)

= `25/5`

∴ x = 5

⇒ y (2 × 10 + 3 × 5) / 5

= `35/5`

∴ y = 7
